Hikmet Afif Mapolar (May 19, 1919 - March 5, 1989) was a prominent Turkish Cypriot writer and journalist. Born in Kyrenia, he began his literary career in 1931 by writing for the English magazine Embros. As one of the leading novelists in Turkish Cypriot literature, he authored 20 of the 130 novels published in the genre by 2017. His works significantly contributed to establishing a unique identity for Turkish Cypriot novels, notably with his first novel 'Kahraman Kaplan' published in 1936, marking it as the second novel by a Turkish Cypriot author.
