Hitomi Soga-Jenkins, born on May 17, 1959, is a Japanese woman abducted to North Korea in 1978 along with her mother. She later married American defector Charles Robert Jenkins in 1980 and had two daughters with him. After a lengthy period in North Korea, she was allowed to return to Japan in 2002, and her husband and children joined her there two years later.
