Hjalmar Helgesen (1906-1984) was a Norwegian educator known for his role as the principal of Sørmarka and his long-term leadership of the country's correspondence schools. He envisioned innovative educational reforms for learning through correspondence in a pamphlet from 1945. He served as the principal of Sørmarka Folk High School, a workers' college, until its closure in 1951. Helgesen was also a prominent figure in radio, contributed to educational broadcasts, and led the Brevskolerådet until 1968, studying the success of correspondence education in Norway.
