Hmayak (Hamo) Avetisi Harutyunyan was an Armenian historian born on March 12, 1906, in Lamzkert, İpekyolu, Van Province, Ottoman Empire. He earned his Ph.D. in historical sciences in 1939 and became a professor in 1966. Harutyunyan was recognized as a Distinguished Scientist of the Armenian SSR in 1954. He passed away on October 28, 1981, in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, USSR.
