Holger Alexander Fransman was a Finnish horn player born on February 10, 1909, in Helsinki. He studied horn in Vienna under Karl Stiegler, becoming his last student. In 1932, he joined the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra as the third horn player and became the principal horn player in 1937, a position he held until 1967. Additionally, he served as a professor of horn at the Sibelius Academy from 1931 to 1973 and was recognized as the 'father of the Finnish Horn School'. He passed away on January 19, 1997, in Helsinki.
