Homer D. Hagstrum (1915-1994) was an American experimental physicist known for his contributions to surface physics. He earned his degrees from the University of Minnesota and worked at Bell Laboratories from 1940, leading the surface physics department from 1954 to 1978. A pioneer in his field, Hagstrum developed a vacuum chamber model in 1961 and received numerous awards, including the Medard W. Welch Award in 1974 and the Davisson-Germer Award in 1975. He was a fellow of the American Physical Society and a member of the National Academy of Sciences.
