Horacio Raúl Descole was an Argentine pharmacist and naturalist born on February 6, 1910, in Avellaneda. He served as the intervenor of the National University of Tucumán, where he was instrumental in the construction of the university's Ciudad Universitaria. This project was left incomplete due to the policies of the dictatorial government led by Pedro Eugenio Aramburu in 1955, which also resulted in Descole's dismissal from his academic roles. In 1973, he returned to the university as rector and supported the establishment of the current Sierra San Javier Park.
