Horst Ludwig Störmer is a German physicist who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1998 alongside Robert Laughlin and Daniel Tsui for their discovery of the quantum Hall effect. The trio also received the Benjamin Franklin Medal the same year. Störmer was born on April 6, 1949, in Frankfurt, Germany, where he studied at the University of Frankfurt before conducting research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His work has significantly contributed to the field of condensed matter physics.
