Horst Preisler was a German marathon and ultramarathon runner born on August 2, 1935. He served as the head of the personnel department at the Berufsgenossenschaftliches Unfallkrankenhaus Hamburg until 1999. Preisler was a world record holder for the most marathons completed, achieving a total of 1,762 by January 28, 2012. His record remained unbeaten until August 2, 2011, when he was succeeded by his former club colleague Christian Hottas, who completed his 2000th marathon on May 5, 2013.
