Hōshū Ikeda was a Japanese martial artist born on March 18, 1942, in Manchukuo. He became the first head of the Shōrin-Ryū Chōshinkyō karate style after founding it in 1969, inspired by his experiences in Chinese martial arts and Okinawan karate. He trained under Hō Yū and promoted Chōshinkyō in Japan and worldwide. After his death on August 24, 2016, he passed the leadership to his daughter Ai in 2012. His contributions to martial arts remain influential.
