He hails from Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, and graduated from Tsuru University. Andō has received numerous awards, including the Member Award at the Mainichi Modern Calligraphy Exhibition in 1982, the Encouragement Award from the Toyota Cultural Association in 1986, and the Minister of Education Award at the 59th Mainichi Calligraphy Exhibition in 2007. He also holds several leadership positions in calligraphy associations.
