Houston McTear was an American sprinter born on February 12, 1957, in Okaloosa County, Florida. He set a world record for 100 yards at 9.0 seconds in May 1975. Though he qualified for the 1976 Montreal Olympics, he had to give up his spot due to injury. He won titles as the US Indoor Champion in 1978 and as the Swedish Indoor Champion in 1990. McTear married his coach, Linda Haglund, in 1993. He passed away from bronchial cancer on November 1, 2015, just three weeks after his wife's death.
