Hovhannes Ghanalanyan was an Armenian Soviet literary scholar born on February 19, 1911, in Akhalkalaki and passed away on March 28, 1994, in Yerevan, Armenia. He achieved the academic title of Doctor of Philology in 1947 and was a professor starting from 1948. He was a member of the Writers' Union of the USSR since 1939 and served as the head of the Armenian Language and Literature department at V. Brusov Institute between 1946 and 1977. Ghanalanyan authored multiple significant works on Armenian literature and prominent Armenian writers.
