Howard Cyril Frederick Vella Dunbar was an English cricketer and British Army officer, born on 20 October 1904 in British India. He attended Ampleforth College and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. As a second lieutenant, he served in the Royal Tank Corps, gaining promotion to major during World War II. He played first-class cricket in India and fought in the North African campaign, ultimately dying in action during the First Battle of El Alamein on 23 July 1942. He is buried in the Alexandria War Memorial Cemetery.
