Howard Clive Mayers was an Australian flying ace who served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve during World War II. Born on January 9, 1910, he studied at the University of Cambridge before working in London. Throughout his military career, he was credited with destroying at least eleven enemy aircraft. He participated in the Battle of Britain, commanded No. 94 Squadron during Operation Crusader, and later led a wing in Egypt. He mysteriously went missing in July 1942, after being forced to land in the Western Desert.
