He became a prominent figure in the field of geology and mining, earning a doctorate in geological and mining sciences in 1948 and being named a professor in 1950. Stepanyan passed away on July 11, 1950, in Moscow, USSR. His contributions to the geological sciences were recognized during his lifetime, and he remains an important figure in Armenian scientific history.
