Howie Hawkins is an American labor union member and environmental activist from New York, born on December 8, 1952. He is a co-founder of the Green Party in the United States and was the party's presidential candidate in 2020. His campaign focused on implementing a Green New Deal with an eco-socialist approach. Since the 1960s, Hawkins has played key roles in anti-war and labor movements. He has retired from the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and worked for UPS before retiring in 2017. Hawkins has run for office multiple times, often without success.
