Hu Xinlin (April 12, 1919 – January 16, 1998) was a prominent Taiwanese ophthalmologist and leftist intellectual. He graduated from Taipei Imperial University and served as a professor and chief physician at National Taiwan University Hospital. After being imprisoned for his political beliefs, he returned to Taiwan post-1980, focusing on music and language studies, while also authoring works on Taiwanese language. Despite his early Marxist ideals, he expressed disappointment in Mao Zedong later in life. Hu Xinlin passed away from colon cancer.
