Hugh Ogden was an American poet and educator, born on March 11, 1937, in Erie, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Haverford College in 1959, earned a master's degree from New York University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. Ogden had a long teaching career at Trinity College in Hartford, where he co-founded the creative writing program. Over his lifetime, he wrote 400 to 500 poems, receiving various accolades, including a National Endowment for the Arts grant. Ogden passed away on December 31, 2006, after an accident on Rangeley Lake.
