Hugo Torres Jiménez (April 25, 1948 - February 12, 2022) was a Nicaraguan soldier, politician, and poet, known as Comandante Uno. He was a key military leader in the Sandinista guerrilla war during the 1970s revolution that overthrew Anastasio Somoza Debayle. Torres participated in significant armed operations and later held leadership roles within the FSLN and the Nicaraguan army, retiring in 1998. He co-founded the Sandinista Renewal Movement (MRS) and was a vocal critic of the Ortega-Murillo regime, advocating for human rights and nonviolent resistance.
