Humberto Leytón Armendia (January 9, 1943 - December 4, 2009) was a Bolivian singer-songwriter known as 'Negrito Leyton' or 'El Rompecantarito'. He was influential in boleros and folk music, recognized across Latin America and Europe. Emphasizing his connection to his people over his identity as a singer, he became a prominent figure in Nueva Canción Boliviana. Leytón won the 1969 Festival Lauro de la Canción and recorded sixteen albums, including tributes to regional history. His song 'Mi Escuelita' became a symbol of childhood in Tupiza.
