Hüsamettin Arslan was a Turkish sociologist and academic, born on January 12, 1956, in Mesûdiye, Ordu. He graduated from Hacettepe University in 1979 and completed his master's degree there with a thesis on industrialization attempts in the Ottoman Empire. Arslan conducted his doctoral studies in the sociology department at Istanbul University, publishing his dissertation on epistemic communities in 1992. He served as a professor in the sociology department at Uludağ University until his death on January 2, 2018, due to cancer, and was buried in Karacaahmet Cemetery.
