Air Commodore John Watson Allan, known as Ian Allan, was a distinguished Scottish RAF officer and flying ace during World War II. Credited with 14 kills, he served with No. 266 Squadron during the Battle of Britain and later with No. 256 Squadron as a night pilot. His notable achievements include leading a squadron to Malta and receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross. Allan held various leadership positions throughout his career, culminating in his role as the commandant of the Officer and Aircrew Selection Centre before retiring in 1973.
