Ian Douglas Foster (born 1 May 1965) is a prominent New Zealand rugby union coach and former player. He achieved significant recognition as the head coach of New Zealand, leading them to the final of the 2023 Rugby World Cup, where they were defeated by South Africa. As a player, he operated as a fly-half for various New Zealand clubs, including Waikato and the Chiefs. His coaching journey commenced with Waikato, and he played a crucial role as an assistant coach in New Zealand's victorious 2015 Rugby World Cup campaign.
