Ian McKay (born 1962) is a British writer, art critic, publisher, and translator known for his influential work in the arts, particularly focusing on Eastern Europe during the 1990s. He was the former editor of Contemporary Art magazine and founded The Journal of Geography and Urban Research. His writings span photography, cinema, and music, and since 2007 he has concentrated on UK Rural Affairs and environmental issues. While he still publishes art criticism, he focuses on social justice and environmental conservation in Europe.
