Air Vice-Marshal Ian Gordon Morrison (1914-1997) was a notable New Zealand aviator and military leader. He served in the Royal Air Force before joining the Royal New Zealand Air Force in 1939. During WWII, he was a bomber pilot and later commanded No. 3 Squadron in the Solomons campaign. Post-war, he held various staff positions and became the Chief of Air Staff in 1962, modernizing the RNZAF's equipment and enhancing its capabilities. He was awarded the Companion of the Order of the Bath in 1965 and retired the following year.
