Ian Ralph Samwell was an English guitarist, composer, and record producer, born on January 19, 1937, in Lambeth, London, and died on March 13, 2003, in Sacramento, California. He is best known for his collaboration with Cliff Richard, particularly as the original rhythm guitarist in The Drifters (later The Shadows). Samwell composed Richard's first major hit 'Move It' and continued to write successful songs, including 'High Class Baby' and 'Dynamite'. He also worked with various artists and producers throughout his career.
