Ibrahim al-Jaafari is an Iraqi politician who served as the Prime Minister of Iraq from 2005 to 2006 following the January 2005 elections. He was also the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2014 to 2018. Al-Jaafari held the position of one of the two vice presidents of Iraq in the interim government from 2004 to 2005 and was the spokesperson for the Islamic Dawa Party. He withdrew his candidacy for the premiership due to disagreements over the security of Kirkuk and foreign interference in Iraqi politics.
