Ichirō Kimijima (1929-1996) was a Japanese fashion designer. He graduated from the Department of Architecture at Nagano National College of Technology. He turned to the fashion industry in 1956 and opened his first boutique in Aoyama, Tokyo, with his wife Yukiko Kimijima in 1962. He held his first collection at the Hotel New Japan in 1964 and participated in the Paris Prêt-à-porter collection for the first time in 1976. He opened Paris Kimijima in France in 1979 and held a fashion show in Shanghai at the invitation of the Chinese government. He was featured in the French fashion magazine L'Officiel in 1991. Kimijima's brand faced a decline in popularity following a scandal in 1995 involving his son, Akira Kimijima. Kimijima passed away in 1996 and his boutiques eventually closed down.
