Héctor Ignacio Gonçalvez Olmedo, known as Ignacio Olmedo, is a Uruguayan teacher, visual artist, and writer born in Artigas on September 28, 1927. He published a notable collection of stories, 'Yarao' (1991), which received significant critical acclaim. His other works include 'La Venganza de la Diosma' (2004), 'Verdes presencias' (2010), 'La turca tatuada' (2011), and 'Fronteras' (2013). Many of his narrative works have been included in anthologies and periodicals, and his stories have won awards in both Uruguay and Argentina.
