Ignas Snellen is a Dutch astrophysicist born on June 6, 1970. He specializes in exoplanet research and completed his doctorate at Leiden University in 1997. After working for three years at the University of Cambridge, he served as a lecturer at the University of Edinburgh before returning to Leiden in 2004 as a professor of observational astrophysics. Snellen develops observation and data reduction techniques for telescopes, particularly for the planned Extremely Large Telescope (ELT). His notable achievements include the first determination of an exoplanet's rotation period and significant grants and awards in his field.
