He graduated from Tbilisi State University in 1926 and led various medical faculties at Tbilisi State Medical Institute, becoming a full member of the Georgian Academy of Sciences in 1969. He introduced a new method for treating liver diseases, conducted significant research on echinococcosis of the liver, and advanced radical surgery for ulcerative diseases. His work garnered several awards, including the State Prize in 1977.
