Igor Škerjanec is a Slovenian cellist and educator born on February 19, 1962, in Ljubljana. He graduated in 1985 from the High School for Music in Detmold under Professor Andru Navara. He then pursued postgraduate studies with his father, Ciril Škerjanec, at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, completing them in 1993. He has participated in numerous masterclasses. Since 1986, he has been the principal cellist of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra and is a member of the chamber ensemble Trio Luwigana.
