İlqar Mirzəyev was an Azerbaijani colonel born in the Soviet Georgian Republic. Esteemed for his bravery, he was posthumously awarded the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan in 2019. He was killed on July 14, 2020, during clashes between Azerbaijani armed forces and Armenian armed forces in the Tovuz District along the international border between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Mirzəyev's sacrifice has made him a celebrated figure in Azerbaijani military history.
