Inayatullah Altamash was born on November 1, 1920, in Gujarkhan, Punjab, Pakistan, into a Rajput family. After completing his schooling in 1936, he joined the British Army as a clerk and served in the Burma Front during World War II. He became a freedom fighter advocating for independence in Malaysia, later joining the Pakistan Air Force after the partition of India. During the 1965 Indo-Pakistani War, he worked as a war correspondent and subsequently became an influential journalist and writer, publishing over a hundred books and promoting Urdu literature.
