İnci Aral is a Turkish novelist and short story writer born in 1944 in Denizli. She graduated from the Gazi Institute of Education in Ankara. Aral has published six short story collections and six novels. She received the Yunus Nadi Prize in 1992 for her novel 'Dead Birds' and the Orhan Kemal Novel Grant for her novel 'The Purple', published in 2002. Her trilogy 'False New Periods', featuring novels published between 1994 and 2007, includes 'The Yellow Saffron'.
