Indra de Silva was the 28th Inspector General of the Sri Lanka Police, serving from 2003 until 2004. He was born on February 19, 1944, in Ambalangoda and educated at Dharmasoka College and the University of Peradeniya, where he earned a degree in Geography. He joined the police force in 1971 and rose through the ranks, holding various positions including Superintendent of Police and Deputy Inspector General. De Silva was appointed acting IGP in October 2003 and permanently confirmed in December. He passed away on December 30, 2015.
