She serves as a professor of German verse art at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. Her works address themes such as the aftermath of National Socialism and the GDR in East Germany, marginalized literature, doping in East Germany, and school shootings. Geipel played a significant role in promoting poet Inge Müller and co-founded the Archive of Suppressed Literature from the GDR.
