Educated in electrical engineering at TU Berlin, de Buhr led his companies through various challenges, including Prokon's insolvency in 2014 and N.prior energy in 2012. He has also served on the board of Enertrag AG and worked with Weener Energie. He is currently on the board of PN Power Plants AG.
