She was a member of the Christian Democrats and served in the Swedish Parliament from 1991 to 2000, representing the Göteborg electoral district. Näslund was involved in the Education Committee and held the position of deputy leader of the Christian Democrats from 1990 to 1993. Later, she served as deputy leader of the Christian Democratic International Center.
