Ingrid Pedersen was a Swedish-American aviator who made history as the first female pilot to fly over the North Pole. Born Ingrid Elisabeth Liljegren on April 17, 1933, in Stockholm, Sweden, she earned her private pilot license in 1957. After marrying Einar Pedersen in 1958, they moved to Alaska in 1962, where she undertook the milestone flight in 1963. Pedersen emigrated to the United States with her husband in 1979, and she passed away on September 11, 2012, in Anchorage, Alaska.
