Ion Sumedrea is a former Romanian cross-country skier who was born on April 15, 1925, in Fundata. He competed for Dinamo Brașov and won four national titles. Sumedrea participated in the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo, finishing 23rd in the 50 km event. Two years later, at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun, he placed 52nd in the 30 km and 35th in the 50 km events. After retiring from competitive skiing, he worked as a ski coach for Tractorul Brașov.
