Ionicus, the pen name of Joshua Charles Armitage, was an English illustrator born on September 26, 1913, and passed away on January 29, 1998. He gained notable recognition for his illustrations, especially the covers of Penguin paperback editions of P. G. Wodehouse's works. In addition to his book illustrations, Ionicus contributed cartoons and drawings to the humor magazine Punch for over 40 years and was involved in the design of nearly 400 books throughout his career.
