Iradj Scheich El-Qalqili is a former German rower born on March 24, 1975, in West Berlin. He represented Germany in the rowing World Cup in 1998 and 1999, earning numerous medals at national championships. El-Qalqili contributed to sports in the Palestinian territories and served as a volunteer board member of the Palestinian Rowing Federation. He was appointed a Sheikh by Bedouin tribes in 2004 for his humanitarian work in the Gaza Strip. He was previously married to German rower Kerstin Kowalski, and he has family ties to other German rowers.
