Irene Hauser was an Austrian Jewish woman born on March 19, 1901, in Waidhofen an der Ybbs. She was deported from Vienna to the Łódź ghetto during World War II, choosing to accompany her husband Léo and their son Eric. Five days after their arrival at the extermination camp in Chełmno, she and her son were murdered in a gas chamber on September 11, 1942. During her time in the ghetto, she kept a diary documenting their daily struggles from June to September 1942.
