She is recognized for transforming scrap materials into sculptures and kinetic art pieces that satirized consumer society. Rejecting traditional academic art, she rebelled against the academy and embraced radical contemporary art movements in post-war Germany. Through her work, she connected with concepts from post-war modernist artists and became associated with the New Realism movement alongside artists like Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely.
