Isam Shanti was a Palestinian historian born on December 18, 1929, in Qalqilya, Palestine. He passed away on December 1, 2012, in Ismailia, Egypt. Renowned as an expert in manuscript investigation, he is considered one of the prominent figures in Arab heritage. In 1989, he served as the director of the Arab Manuscripts Institute affiliated with the Arab League. He was affectionately known as the 'Sheikh of Arab Manuscript Catalogers' and 'Sheikh of Arab Catalogers'.
