Islah Jad, born in 1951, is an Assistant Professor in Gender and Development at Birzeit University and a co-founder and current director of the Women's Studies Institute in Birzeit. She is a prominent figure in the Palestinian women's movement, having helped establish women's centers in Gaza and Nablus. Additionally, she has consulted on gender issues for the UN Development Program and contributed to the 2005 Arab Human Development Report. Islah holds a Bachelor's in Political Science from Cairo University, a Master's in Political Theory from Nantes, and a PhD in Gender Studies and Development from London.
