He founded the Coastal Writers Association in Syria in 1966, was a founding member of the Arab Writers Union in Syria, and served as president of the Palestinian Writers and Journalists Union in the Maghreb from 1974 to 1981. He published over thirty poetry collections and passed away in Jijel, Algeria, on April 29, 2008.
