İsmail Özden, also known as Zekî Şengalî or Mam Zekî ('Uncle Zekî'), was a Kurdish Yazidi politician and guerrilla born in Şimzê, Beşiri, in 1952. He was a militant of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and played a significant role in the resistance against the genocide of Yazidis by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant. Özden was killed on August 15, 2018, during an airstrike by the Turkish Air Force.
